Tour Overview

Our 5-Day Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour is a focused sacred circuit from Bangkok that covers the four most important sites of Lord Gautama Buddha’s life. Moreover, this 5-day journey is specially designed for Thai pilgrims and working professionals who cannot take 8 or 10 days leave — yet still wish to complete the essential Chaturdhama pilgrimage. Therefore, our 5-Day Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour visits the Enlightenment at Bodh Gaya, the First Sermon at Sarnath-Varanasi, the Parinirvana at Kushinagar, and the Birthplace at Lumbini (Nepal). Additionally, Prime Value Tours has been guiding Thai pilgrim groups through this exact short circuit since 1999, making us India’s most trusted short-circuit Buddhist pilgrimage specialist.

Day 1: BANGKOK-BODHAGAYA — Arrival at the Seat of Enlightenment

The journey begins at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok, where your group of 10 pilgrims is welcomed by the Prime Value Tours coordinator. After a connecting flight to Gaya International Airport, you will arrive in the holiest city of Buddhism — Bodhgaya — the place where Prince Siddhartha attained Enlightenment beneath the sacred Bodhi Tree over 2,500 years ago.

  • At Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), the Prime Value Tours coordinator meets all ten pilgrims with signs with their names on them. The group checks in and gets help with their luggage. their bags.
  • Briefing before departure: pilgrimage orientation, how to act at sacred sites, and a packing reminder
  • Flight: Bangkok (BKK) to Gaya (GAY) takes about 4 to 5 hours with the best airlines, which are IndiGo, Air India, or Thai Airways with a connection.
  • Arrival at Gaya International Airport: a warm welcome from a local guide who knows a lot about Buddhism
  • Private car transfer to Bodhgaya (12 km, about 20 minutes)
  • Check-in: Bodhgaya Regency, Royal Residency, or Hotel Maya (3–4 stars)—get some rest and change.

  • At the hotel, there will be a vegetarian dinner, and the guide will talk about the whole 5-day sacred journey.

Meals: Dinner | Accommodation: Bodhgaya Regency / Royal Residency / Maya Bodhgaya

Begin with the most sacred morning ritual of the entire pilgrimage — dawn prayers under the Bodhi Tree — before a comprehensive tour of the Mahabodhi complex. Then drive to Varanasi and proceed directly to Sarnath, the Deer Park where the Buddha set the Wheel of Dharma in motion with his First Sermon, before witnessing the breathtaking Ganga Aarti ceremony on the sacred river.

  • 4:30 AM SUNRISE MEDITATION at Mahabodhi Temple—prayers at dawn under the holy Bodhi Tree while temple bells ring and monks chant. This was the most spiritually powerful part of the trip.
  • A full guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mahabodhi Temple:
    1. Vajrasana (Diamond Throne or Enlightenment Throne): the exact place where the Buddha became enlightened
    2. Animesh Lochana Stupa: the place where the Buddha stood and looked at the Bodhi Tree in thanks during the second week
    3. Ratnachankama (Jewel Walk): the jewel-lined path where the Buddha walked in meditation for the third week
    4. Muchalinda Lake: the peaceful and well-kept home of the serpent king who protected the Buddha from the rain.
